Day 1

Iquitos – Amazon River

Arriving on a morning flight*, receive a warm welcome at Iquitos International Airport by Aqua Expeditions’ crew and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon continues with an introduction to the historic city of Iquitos and the opportunity to visit an indigenous Amazon community.

In the early evening, embark the Aqua Nera and settle into your generously-sized suite as you begin one of life’s greatest adventures. Following an introduction to our naturalist guides and a routine safety drill, gather at the restaurant for the first of many Amazonian cuisine experiences created by Aqua Nera consulting chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, whose restaurant, Amaz, is one of Peru’s most renowned dining establishments.

Iquitos – Amazon River

In the early evening, embark the Aqua Nera and settle into your generously-sized suite as you begin one of life’s greatest adventures. Yarapa River – Clavero Lake

Aboard our comfortable skiffs, we set sail from the Amazon River to the Yarapa River. Ready your binoculars for tropical songbirds, black collared hawks and sloths. Line-fish for Amazon’s notoriously ferocious piranhas as our naturalist guides share stories of Lake Moringo.

In the afternoon, we sail on to Lake Clavero where villagers rely on traditional dugout canoes to get around. Swim in the lake’s calm waters or visit native residents of Amazonia who welcome you to their community with open arms.

Yarapa River – Clavero Lake

Aboard our comfortable skiffs, we set sail from the Amazon River to the Yarapa River. Ready your binoculars for tropical songbirds, black collared hawks and sloths. Line-fish for Amazon’s notoriously ferocious piranhas as our naturalist guides share stories of Lake Moringo.

Yanallpa River – Dorado River

We explore the blackwater tributaries of the Yanallpa River by skiff, disembarking to walk deep into the wildlife-rich Amazonian rainforest. Later, we board the skiffs again to cruise along the El Dorado River for a dusk excursion in search of exotic nocturnal creatures.

In the afternoon, witness one of the great spectacles of the Southern Hemisphere, the birthplace of the Amazon River. By nightfall, you will meet the new passengers who signed on for the four-night trip, as we start our journey together along the Marañon River.

On the way back to the Marañon River after lunch, we venture out by skiffs alongside the banana boats transporting jungle products, keeping an eye out for pink river dolphins.

Samiria River

As the day begins, embark on a morning wildlife excursion on the extraordinary blackwater Nauta Caño River.

Iquitos

In the morning, take a guided visit to the local market and marvel at the regional produce of the Peruvian Amazon, and sample exotic snacks if you wish.

Return to the Aqua Nera for breakfast before disembarkation. En route to the airport, visit the Manatee Rescue Center, where orphaned Amazonian manatees rehabilitate before they are released back into the wild.

Book With Flexibility and Peace of Mind In Times of Covid-19*

Aqua Expeditions has revised their terms and conditions for all bookings made in 2022 with the aim of offering flexibility and peace of mind for guests’ future travel plans. The flexible booking conditions allow for the rebooking and postponement of a trip free of charge in case they experience COVID related travel restrictions, so you may experience a truly authentic and memorable Aqua Expeditions journey.

Booking Policy

For confirmed bookings a deposit of US$ 400 per person is required to confirm the booking. Reservations made 90 days or less prior to departure: A full, non-refundable payment is required to confirm the booking.

Reservations & Payments

a) Reservations made 90 days or less prior to departure: A full, non-refundable payment is required to confirm the booking.

b) Reservations made 91 days or more before departure: A deposit of US$ 400 per person is required to confirm the booking. The final balance is required 90 days prior to departure. If the payment is not received on time, the space(s) will be automatically released.

Group Reservations & Payments (8 or more passengers)

a) Reservations made 121 days or more prior to departure: An initial deposit of US$ 400 per person is required to confirm the booking, with a second deposit of US $400 per person 120 days before departure. The final balance is required 90 days prior to departure.

b) Reservations made 120 days to 91 days prior to departure: A deposit of US$ 800 per person is required to confirm the booking. The final balance is required 90 days prior to departure.

c) Reservations made 90 days or less prior to departure: A full, non-refundable payment is required to confirm the booking.

Flexible Terms & Conditions For New Bookings

Aqua Expeditions offers to postpone the booking to any date in the next 12 months from original date of departure in the same destination without any administration fees.Possibility to transfer to another vessel with full deposits deducted from final payment. The final payment will be adjusted according to the Aqua vessel chosen, the time of the year and departure selected.

All payments received will be transferred to the new, rescheduled booking. In case a travel date cannot yet be determined, Aqua will extend a voucher for a future travel credit, equal to the dollar amount paid. Disclaimer For New Bookings

Entry requirements from the local governments in the destinations where Aqua Expeditions operates are continually changing and are impacting our ability to operate. In confirming travelers’ booking, they accept that Aqua Expeditions may be forced to change their departure date if operating is not possible due to restrictions imposed by the governing travel authorities in Peru, Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia. In this instance, the flexible booking conditions outlined will apply.Name Change Policy

Aqua Expeditions permits guests to change their names to other travelers’ names without penalty.

Water Levels & Itineraries

Itineraries are subject to change due to weather conditions and time of year and thus, navigation times and excursions may need to be modified at the captain’s discretion. All times indicated are approximate and are also subject to change. At times embarkation and disembarkation points for guests may need to be modified. We will make every possible attempt to minimize disruption to travel plans. Aqua Expeditions will make every reasonable attempt to cover cost of transferring guests to and from original port of embarkation.

Medical & Health

Guests should be in good physical health in order to be able to make the most of their cruise. Exploring the area involves the use of small, motorized skiffs and zodiacs and at times may include some wet landings. Daily excursions may include walking on irregular terrain and getting in and out of the skiffs and zodiacs occasionally requires some physical effort. Walking excursions may last up to one hour or more. Malaria medication and yellow fever shots are not required for travelers coming into any region Aqua Expeditions operates in; however, they are recommended. Please consult your physician.

Trip Cancellation Insurance

Travelers are strongly advised to purchase trip cancellation insurance, which will reimburse the cost of air tickets and other non-refundable trip payments. International medical, baggage loss, and delay insurance are also recommended. Aqua Expeditions assumes no liability for lost or stolen personal belongings.

Vessell Replacement

Aqua Expeditions reserves the right to substitute another vessel if considered necessary (i.e. force majeure or mechanical failure). If the travelers do not take this option, Aqua Expeditions reserves the right to cancel the trip upon a refund pro rata per cruise night not used or, as an alternative, will offer credit toward a future cruise on any Aqua Expeditions cruise.

Dietary Needs

Aqua Expeditions should be contacted at least 30 days prior to embarkation regarding travelers’ specific dietary needs. Every effort will be made to cater to special dietary needs, and to accommodate special requests, subject to a given product’s availability.

Travelers’ Responsibilities

Travelers have responsibilities toward both their fellow passengers and the Aqua Expeditions’ crew. Every passenger should review the conditions contained in the trip itinerary, observe all safety requirements on board and on excursions, and act in an appropriate and respectful manner toward the crew members and their fellow travelers.

**In the event of cancellations, wire fees and credit card fees will be deducted when calculating refunds.

Later, swim, canoe or kayak in Yanayacu-Pucate River as we seek the legendary pink river dolphins. In the afternoon, visit a local village and interact with the native people and visit local schoolchildren.

Day 6

Samiria River

The rewards for our early start today are plentiful: a full day excursion including a picnic lunch accompanied by the jungle symphony, and fishing on the blackwater of the Samiria River.

On the way back to the Marañon River after lunch, we venture out by skiffs alongside the banana boats transporting jungle products, keeping an eye out for pink river dolphins.

Samiria River

Nauta Caño River – Jungle Walk In Casual

As the day begins, embark on a morning wildlife excursion on the extraordinary blackwater Nauta Caño River.

In the afternoon, we will take a jungle walk on the firm soil forest of Casual while looking for flora and fauna which may include medicinal trees, insects and poison dart frogs.

Learn more about the different rainforest strata and ecosystems. At night, focus our hi-tech telescope on the sky to identify the stars, planets and the milky way.

Day 8

Iquitos

In the morning, take a guided visit to the local market and marvel at the regional produce of the Peruvian Amazon, and sample exotic snacks if you wish.

Return to the Aqua Nera for breakfast before disembarkation. En route to the airport, visit the Manatee Rescue Center, where orphaned Amazonian manatees rehabilitate before they are released back into the wild.

Iquitos
